Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale
is this year’s festive underdog, and boy does it give good bite. The Finnish movie has managed to gain critical acclaim (it’s rated at 90% on Rotten Tomatoes) despite having a less than heart-warming appeal (Santa likes to eat his reindeer.) and not being in wide release.

Now writer/director, Jalmari Helander has spoken to Total Film about the topic of his new project. It will be English-speaking and apparently have a plot similar to Home Alone, with the added bonus of machine guns.

“I’m writing at the moment. […] It will be a totally English-language film with a big budget, an action movie. It’s something like Home Alone meets Rambo, it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

When questioned as to whether his next film would be a little bit more friendly towards kids, his answer was resoundingly negative. “I think it will be quite violent, so no. Like Home Alone with machine guns.”
