Possibly, says The Playlist. Aaron Sorkin, screenwriter of A Few Good Men, Charlie WIlson’s War, and most recently The Social Network, has optioned the right to write it. The screenplay would be based off the memoirs of Andrew Young, Edwards’ political aide entitled The Politician.
For those of you who forgot, or just didn’t pay attention (like me), Edwards had an affair with a film maker named Rielle Hunter who was on his presidential campaign. An anonymous tip enlightened ‘The Enquirer’ and first brought it to light. Though it was ignored at first it slowly picked up steam when Hunter admitted to this claim. A claim she added produced a child. Edwards was adamant that it was not his child until confronted to take a paternity test, to which he admitted it was his child. This shot down any hope he had for becoming President or being Barack Obama’s running mate.
First looking at the headline its understandable why one would think, ‘How could something so boring make a good movie.’ Hopefully, the above explanation helped you realize this would make an excellent story. In addition, Aaron Sorkin is a brilliant screenwriter. he has proven he can intertwine politics with personal lives flawlessly in all his previous work.
Do you thing the Edwards scandal would make or a good movie?
