After finishing production nearly two years ago, it’s been a long, difficult road for those behind the latest action thriller The Expatriate. Sitting on the shelf for some time (with director Philipp Stölzl even completing another project in the meantime), the project finally hit international screens back in the fall, but unfortunately was quickly pirated. Now Radius-TWC is here to rebrand the Aaron Eckhart-led film and hopefully give it a new spin for American audiences.
First up, they’ve retitled it Erased and now given it a new theatrical trailer. As expected after this long delay, it looks like your fairly generic entry into the genre, with a plot aping the Bourne series a bit. But certainly doesn’t seem far worse than the other Eckhart spring starrer getting a major release, Olympus Has Fallen — not high praise, but perhaps this could be a good fit for VOD. Check it out below for the film also starring Liana Liberato, Olga Kurylenko and Alexander Fehling.
Synopsis:
When ex-CIA agent Ben Logan discovers that he and his daughter have been marked for termination as part of a wide-reaching international conspiracy, a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse ensues as Logan tries to outsmart his hunters and uncover the truth.
Erased finally opens on May 10th.
