The future is looking bright for up-and-comer Brie Larson. Although the actress has been working for well over a decade, thanks to roles in both Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World and 21 Jump Street, she’s now in the spotlight and has a busy 2013 ahead. Larson is part of the ensemble for two highly-anticipated Sundance titles, James Ponsoldt‘s Smashed follow-up The Spectacular Now, as well as Joseph Gordon-Levitt‘s directorial debut Don Jon’s Addiction.
She’s now set to make a major career shift for an upcoming project, as Showbiz411 reports Larson has taken the lead role in a Bollywood musical, beating out other stars such as Kate Hudson. Titled Basmati Blues, the film will be directed by newcomer Dan Baron and feature a production entirely in India. The only logline we were able to dig up is it’s “a musical comedy about love, adventure, and a grain of rice that could change the world,” and word is that Larson’s male co-star will be Indian. It certainly seems like a challenge for Larson and one we commend the actress for taking on, so check back for more details as they arrive.
