While many have hinted that Toronto International Film Festival 2013 is the year of Benedict Cumberbatch, with his dramas August: Osage Country, The Fifth Estate and 12 Years a Slave premiering there, his co-star of the lattermost film will also have a major showing. Not only his Steve McQueen‘s highly-anticipated drama landing, but so is another drama featuring his co-star, Chiwetel Ejiofor, with both projects hopefully giving the Children of Men actor his deserved break-out.
Today brings our first festival for Biyi Bandele‘s Half of a Yellow Sun, co-starring Thandie Newton and following a story of family ties and tribal violence. We’ve also included a new trailer for another slave drama featuring Ejiofor, titled Savannah. Annette Haywood-Carter‘s film also Jim Caviezel shot over two years ago, but will finally be arriving this fall. So check out both trailers below and see the 12 Years a Slave trailer if you missed it.
Savannah opens on August 23rd and Half of a Yellow Sun premieres at TIFF, which kicks of on September 5th.
Are you looking forward to Ejiofor’s major year?
