With an impressive cast that includes Sally Hawkins (Happy-Go-Lucky), Rosamund Pike (An Education), Miranda Richardson (The Young Victoria) and Bob Hoskins (Mrs Henderson Presents), Made in Dagenham explores an issue that is sadly far from resolved: the wage gap.

Set in a suburb of 1960s London, Made in Dagenham is based on the true story of the brave women who stood together against the Ford Motor Factory’s sexist policies, and demanded wages equal to their male counterparts. Through their stand, blue-collar worker, Rita O’Grady (Sally Hawkins) finds her struggle unites her with Lisa (Rosamund Pike), an educated but stifled housewife, and Barbara (Miranda Richardson), a powerful yet patronized politician.

From the film’s site: Daring to stand up and push boundaries, the women changed a system that no one wanted to admit was broken.

Made in Dagenham opens in New York and Los Angeles November 19, 2010.
