Now, this is pretty cool. If you’ve seen the theatrical trailer, then you know about the crazy train crash (pictured above) in J.J. Abrams‘ upcoming blockbuster Super 8. I’ve seen the entire sequence and it is a glorious example of perfect blockbuster filmmaking. One can read my full impressions here, but Valve has set out to let you experience the actual event, from inside the train. Included in their new game Portal 2, that hits stores today, there is a easter egg in which one has a first person perspective as a passenger in this train during the crash. Super8News alerted us to the trailer and you can check out a walkthrough below via Kotaku.

Unfiction also has a bunch of screencaps, which you can see below.  Worth noting is the map, which shows the train’s schedule. There is also a shot of metallic cubes that fell out of a container. These are a big part of the film and harness some sort of power. Check out the gallery below.

Synopsis:

In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth – something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.

Super 8 hits theaters June 10th and one can check out Portal 2 on the official site.
