Rian Johnson’s (The Brothers Bloom) new science fiction project Looper is amassing quite an impressive cast. Joining Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt, and Paul Dano will be Jeff Daniels, Piper Perabo. Also signing on to the project is Noah Segan with whom Johnson worked on The Brothers Bloom and Brick. Variety is reporting [via Collider] that the three have signed on for the project, although their roles are unclear at the moment.

The flick is about a group of time-traveling hit-men who dispose of subjects to make it look like they never existed, a reasonably unique twist given the constraints of the time-travel genre. The project is in production, seeking a 2012 release. Gordon-Levitt impressed me in Inception so I think his lead in the movie will be worthwhile. I love Rian Johnson and The Brothers Bloom is one of my favorites, so I look forward to his nuanced and idiosyncratic directing in this futuristic setting.

Do you think these additions will help the project? How do you feel about this cast?
