The roller-coaster that is the production of the movie ’24’ hit another downward spiral with news that screenwriter Billy Ray, the man behind Breach and Breaking Glass, is not going to be involved in scripting the film version. Howard Gordon, the executive producer of the hit TV series, recently spoke to Assignment X about the project saying, “there was a [Billy Ray written] script, but ultimately it wasn’t the right proposition. It wasn’t strong enough or compelling enough to the studio obviously to move ahead with it.”

However, in an interesting turn of events, Gordon also mentioned that rumors are abound that Tony Scott, director of Unstoppable and The Taking of Pelham 123 has shown some interest in being involved.

“The rumors are that [director] Tony Scott has an idea that he is going to run it by or has run it by Kiefer Sutherland. I don’t know what the status of it is.”

Could this action flick-maker be the right fit for a big screen version of ’24’?
